OST for Young People
At OST, we believe theatre and arts should be accessible to all. We think encouraging and facilitating creativity from a young age supports individuals wellbeing, communication skills, and imagination. That’s why we offer bespoke workshops designed for schools and learning providers to facilitate creativity for young people.
We have a range of workshops designed for young people that connect to our ethos and expertise as a theatre company. All workshops can be adapted to suit the needs of your participants, so please get in touch with any specific requests.
Story Sessions
Subject Focus: English and Literacy
Suitable for: Reception – Year 6 (1 hour)
Exploring a story in English? Got a new class novel on the go? Using different drama and performance techniques, OST and the participants will bring the story to life, looking closely at plot, character and setting, examining the deeper meaning of the text.

The Seasons
Subject Focus: Science, Art
Suitable for: Reception – Year 6 (1 hour)
In this workshop, we work together to use drama to explore the different seasons, and work together to create a collective piece of artwork that encapsulates what we have explored.

Introduction to Puppetry
Subject Focus: Design and Technology, Drama
Suitable for: Year 1 - Year 6 (2 hours)
Puppetry is a form of performance we love to use at OST; it’s a fantastic way to tell a story and connect with characters. OST practitioners will guide participants though designing, making and performing with your very own puppet!

The Power of Play
Subject Focus: PSHE and Wellbeing
Suitable for: Reception – Year 6 (1 hour)
This workshop uses drama and theatre focused exercises to unlock an hour of fun and silliness. It’s a fantastic way for young people to unlock their creativity and freedom of expression whilst building connections with one another.
